Chiropody - 'Put Your Best Foot Forward'

How can Chiropody help me?

Chiropody helps with external foot problems relating to skin and nails.

As well as dealing with minor foot treatments, we can also deliver fast and effective surgery under local anaesthetic to deal with ingrown or infected toenails. We include follow-up appointments with advice and nail dressings.

Chiropody problems like repeated hard skin and corns may be identified as caused by problems with the underlying foot structure or shoe type.  This may be resolved with appropriate individual treatment following an assessment by our foot mechanics specialist, the podiatrist.

What does chiropody treat?

  • Hard skin / calluses
  • Verrucae
  • Corns
  • Fungal infections of the skin and nails
  • Thickened nails
  • Cracked heels
  • Ingrown nails
  • Wounds

What happens when I visit a Chiropodist?

A chiropody appointment will include a consultation, examination of the feet and treatment.

Walk to Health

Looking after your feet with regular visits to a State Registered Chiropodist and Podiatrist can dramatically improve mobility and maintain fit, active and pain free feet.

MINOR SURGERY
Treatment of Verrucae:- Most chiropodists/podiatrists offer acid or freezing treatment of verrucae, which is time consuming and unreliable. Treating verrucae with a Needling Technique under local anaesthesiais more often than not successful with a single treatment. If you have multiple verrucae, then only the oldest lesion is treated – the theory behind this is that the treatment causes an immune response in the body and will resolve all sites infected by the virus.
Treatment of Ingrown Toenails:- Problematic Ingrown toenails can be treated with a simple Nail Surgery procedure under local anaesthetic. This can be done in one of two ways – by removing the problematic side of the nail, or removing the whole nail. A chemical is applied to the base of the nail to stop it from re-growing – giving a permanent solution.
