When returning to normal daily activities, set yourself realistic goals. Once you’ve achieved the goals you have set, review them and set new ones. For example, a goal may be to return to gardening. Initially, set yourself a target of 10 minutes of light work in the garden, then increase that to 30 minutes the following week and so on, increasing the duration and effort of your activities gradually as you recover.
There are many opinions on movement and exercise in relation to physical pain; a simple rule is to keep as active as you feel able within the limits of your pain.
